My husband and I visited South Hampton, Ontario last
summer with his family and absolutely fell in love with its charming downtown. During
the summer months, the town comes to life on Thursday nights with an antique car
show and used jewellery sale. These two events really create a festive vibe in
the downtown core. It is lovely to see everyone taking in the old cars and perusing
the jewelry, while the sun sets over the water. The jewelry sale is amazing. There are literally tables and tables of
unique and vintage jewelry pieces and what makes the sale even sweeter is that
all the proceeds go to charity.
I ended up purchasing three pairs of vintage clip
on earrings at the sale with plans to re-purpose them into some new jewellery
pieces. I decided to break up one of the pairs and create a cocktail ring –
check out my instructions below on how to create your own custom cocktail ring!
- You will need:
- 1 ring base, I purchased mine in the craft section of my local superstore but almost any ring will do
- 1 earring
- Glue
- Pliers or wire cutters to remove the clip-on back
Step 1
Remove the clip-on back from the earring.
Step 2
Apply some glue to the back of the earring and to the
base of the ring.
Step 3
Stick the earring onto your ring base and press the
two together and TA-DA – you just made a custom cocktail ring!
Note: you may need to hold the two pieces together for a minute or two to allow the glue to set.
