Love Bracelet

If you spend some time browsing Etsy you will find so many beautiful examples of message necklaces and bracelets created using wire wrapping techniques. Keep reading below to see my take on the message bracelet.

You will need:

  • Wire (I found that the utility wire I picked up at the dollar store actually worked much better than jewellery wire from the craft store. You may need to test out a few different types of wire to find what works best for you)
  • Jewellery Chain (I re-used an old bracelet for my jewellery chain and clasp.)
  • Jewellery Clasp
  • Needle-nose Pliers
  • Wire Cutters

 Step 1

Decide what word you want to use for your bracelet. Roll out a long length of wire and use your needle-nose pliers to bend and shape the letters in your word. Be sure to create a loop at the start and end of your word so you have something to attach the jewellery chain too.

Step 2

Once your word is complete, use your wire cutters to remove it from the roll of wire. Use your wire cutters to cut off the necessary length of jewellery chain. Cut the length of chain in half and attach it to the loops you created on either side of your word.

Step 3
Attach your clasp and your message bracelet is ready to wear!

P.S. You can easily turn your bracelet into a necklace if you use a longer length of jewellery chain.

Vintage Clip-on Earring turned Cocktail Ring

My husband and I visited South Hampton, Ontario last summer with his family and absolutely fell in love with its charming downtown. During the summer months, the town comes to life on Thursday nights with an antique car show and used jewellery sale. These two events really create a festive vibe in the downtown core. It is lovely to see everyone taking in the old cars and perusing the jewelry, while the sun sets over the water. The jewelry sale is amazing. There are literally tables and tables of unique and vintage jewelry pieces and what makes the sale even sweeter is that all the proceeds go to charity.
I ended up purchasing three pairs of vintage clip on earrings at the sale with plans to re-purpose them into some new jewellery pieces. I decided to break up one of the pairs and create a cocktail ring – check out my instructions below on how to create your own custom cocktail ring!

  • You will need:
  • 1 ring base, I purchased mine in the craft section of my local superstore but almost any ring will do
  • 1 earring
  • Glue
  • Pliers or wire cutters to remove the clip-on back

Step 1
Remove the clip-on back from the earring.

Step 2
Apply some glue to the back of the earring and to the base of the ring.

Step 3
Stick the earring onto your ring base and press the two together and TA-DA – you just made a custom cocktail ring!

Note: you may need to hold the two pieces together for a minute or two to allow the glue to set.

Welcome to The Coral Charm

Photo is from here
Welcome
Since this is my first blog post I thought I would take a minute to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about what The Coral Charm is all about!

About Me & The Coral Charm
The Coral Charm is an ever evolving catch-all where I share my passion for all things whimsical, floral and sweet.  For me whimsy is creating, I love spending weekend afternoons crafting, designing and decorating!

I also have a love for all things floral – in fact this blog is named after one of my favourite flowers, the Coral Charm Peony! Whether it is fresh flowers from the market, a beautiful floral textile, or the flower beds in my own backyard – I love the romantic, feminine and elegant beauty of flowers.

This blog wouldn’t be complete without a little bit of sweetness - when I’m not crafting I’m usually baking, can you say…cupcakes and cookies and cakes….oh my!
I live in Ontario, Canada, in a sweet little town-house with my husband and biggest supporter – Mr. D!

What’s Next
I’ve been working on a few DIY projects over the past few weeks – so stay tuned for some DIY project posts coming very soon!
